Aion 2 pets: How It Fits into Aion 2 Progression

Pets come up often when newcomers ask how to plan a character in Aion 2, usually right after questions about class choice and gear. Because the global servers opened only weeks ago, this guide treats companion features as a topic to investigate inside the client, and it focuses on how to judge their place in your own progress.

Where Aion 2 stands in late 2026

The sequel runs on Unreal Engine 5, and NCSOFT's home market of South Korea got it first, together with Taiwan, during November 2025. Everyone else waited almost a year: early access for the global edition opened from 30 September 2026, followed by the full free-to-play opening on 5 October through Steam and the PURPLE launcher. Regional server clusters exist for both Americas, for Europe, and for Asia via Japan.

The familiar rivalry between Elyos and Asmodians returns, with the Balaur in the background, and eight classes ship at launch, ranging from melee picks like the Gladiator and Assassin to support roles such as the Chanter and Cleric. Flight matters in fights, not just for getting around, and combat blends tab-targeting with movement. Those are the stable facts. Specific pet mechanics are not on that list, so anything below about companions is framed as questions to answer rather than settled detail.

Three roles a pet can play in your progress

Across MMOs, companion systems tend to land in one of a few buckets. Which bucket Aion 2 pets fall into, and whether they shift between buckets after patches, is the first thing to work out from the game's own descriptions:

  • Convenience: help with routine chores such as picking up loot or carrying items, saving time without changing combat power.
  • Power: a direct or indirect effect on a character's strength, which makes a pet part of gear planning.
  • Collection and style: cosmetic companions kept for appearance or a sense of completion.

If a pet is mostly about convenience, there is little reason to rush it. If it measurably affects power, it belongs in the same planning sheet as weapons and armor, and it will probably be rebalanced as NCSOFT tunes the global version.

Time is the hidden cost in every bucket. A companion that takes many sessions to obtain or improve competes with dungeons, raids, arenas and the Abyss for the same hours. Before committing, estimate roughly how much play a pet goal would absorb and whether that time would move your character further if spent elsewhere. This is a personal calculation, and the answer for a casual solo player is often different from the one for someone pushing faction PvP.

Finding reliable information in the client

Third-party wikis for the Korean release may describe systems that differ in the global build, and translated datamines often go stale within a patch or two. The safest order of checks is the in-game tooltip and menu text first, then official notices and patch notes from NCSOFT, then community guides that state which version and date they describe.

Conflicting claims are best settled by recency and proximity: the most recent note, written closest to the live client, usually wins. A screenshot of a tooltip from your own client beats a confident forum post every time, especially while balance changes are still frequent after the October launch.

It also helps to keep two kinds of knowledge apart. In-game mechanics are what the client and NCSOFT describe: how a pet is obtained, what it does, what it costs in time or currency. Paid assistance is something else entirely, a service run by people outside the studio, and its descriptions tell you about the offer, not about the rules of the game.

Some players decide that collecting or upgrading companions is not where they want to spend evenings. A few points help sort the options before money is involved:

  • Official purchases inside the game or its launcher follow NCSOFT's own rules and are the lowest-risk route if a pet is sold there.
  • Outside storefronts such as the Aion 2 Pets collection describe offers from a third party; treat that page as a description to read critically, not as confirmation of how the in-game system works.
  • Deals in which a stranger plays on your character, or in which in-game goods are swapped for cash, belong to a much riskier category.

That last point deserves emphasis. Boosting, account sharing and real-money trading can be against a game's terms, and penalties for breaking them range from removed items to account suspension. Before you go ahead, check the current terms of service for Aion 2 and for the platform you play on.

A simple plan for the first weeks

  1. Level your main character and learn your class before chasing any companion.
  2. Read every pet-related tooltip you unlock and note what it actually changes.
  3. Compare that note with the latest official patch notes after each update.
  4. Decide whether a pet is convenience, power or collection for you, then budget time accordingly.
  5. Revisit the decision after a month, when the global version has had its first rounds of tuning.

Treated this way, pets become one more piece of an ordinary progression plan rather than a source of pressure, and you keep control over both your account and your evenings.
